Our Story

Yaks Give Back, a subsection of the Yaktopia Yaks Hockey Organization, supports designated charitable organizations and endeavors through awareness events and contributions. These events and contributions are centered on the ideals of good sportsmanship, friendly competition, and teamwork.

The earliest version of Yaks Give Back (YGB) arose from the generous nature of a Yaktopia Yaks Adult Hockey Organization member and need for support after a devastating tsunami in Japan in 2011. Not yet known or organized as YGB, several men and women came together to quickly arrange a charity hockey game at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube. Along with matching funds, the Yaks were able to raise over $10,000 to help the victims of the 2011 Japan tsumani.
